My bet is there is a HDMI handshake issue going on in your case. Google it.
Make sure both PS3 & AV receiver have up to date firmwares, then try again. Second method is to factory reset everything, reconnect cables, then see if the problem persists.
Third method, not as practical obviously, is grab any cheap receiver to try for comparison.
Good luck.
When I turn on the ps3 and receiver, I get no display and no sound. I'm sure the ps3 and cords work fine; I can connect the ps3 to the tv (panasonic P50G15) using either of my hdmi cords, and it works perfectly. The receiver SEEMS to be working ok---it plays radio through the speakers fine. But when I use the receiver as an intermediary, I get the display/sound problem.
Here's the puzzling part: after I turn everything on and experience the problem, I can disconnect the ps3 from the receiver, plug the ps3 into the tv and start a movie, then reconnect the ps3->receiver->tv, and video/sound work. BUT THEN, if i stop the movie, the tv loses video, and I have to reconnect the ps3 directly to the tv to get display again...then I can, once again, reconnect the ps3 to receiver to tv and see the ps3 menu once more.
I'm stumped...anyone have suggestions?
