Well I don't own a PS3 but shouldn't it auto prompt you when you turn on your PS3 to download a new update? If not try looking through the available content for download. But I'm pretty sure it should auto-prompt you.
Hook your ps3 up online and it automatically will prompt you to update you go to update via internet by settings and press x it will update the firmware and install it for you.If you don't have a internet connection go to playstation.com and click on ps3 and click on update there you can burn the update to cd then install it to your ps3.
