General discussion

PS3 Multiplayer

What has happened to being able to play multiplayer games, using 2 controllers with the person sitting next to you rather than on the internet? Is this feature going away, or is the way to play tiger woods with each of us having a controller, or uncharted 2 against each other too hard to figure out?

I think it depends

I think it depends on the game, and how the developer of said game set it up.

Simple logic

If the developer wanted you to have lots of fun, they would put it in. And they do. However, the publishers want to make more and more money. So, they took it out because:

1 copy for you and your friends when they come over

is less money for them than

4 copies for everyone.

Oh it is

Oh, it is a money thing, just not some conspiracy on the part of the developer to sell more copies. More like they looked at the cost of developing, testing, and maintaining co-op modes, then decided the budget could be better allocated in other ways. Especially since the majority of games today have about 90% of their budget devoted to graphics, and then the remaining 10% goes to things like gameplay. So you end up with some very nice looking, but ultimately unplayable, excuses for games that would have been better as some kind of animated movie.

I too wish it was back

I absolutely loved this feature in the original Brothers in Arms games. Of course they had to take it out of the last one. It was nice to see it in COD: World at War though.
