PS3 Japan Model worth buying?

Jan 17, 2007 4:35AM PST

PS3 60GB JAPAN model dedicated exclusively to Blu-Ray formats
Be aware of buying any PS3 Japan model, with limited functions. Probably if it is half the price of the US model, it is worth a try. Customer support reply from Sony Japan clearly states that their PS3s were not meant to be used outside the United States. It will NOT have the manufacturer's warranty which got voided as soon as it was shipped out of Japan.
The vendors in USA, www.thenewconnection.com will not take back or replace the unit. It was misleading consumers by letting them think that the manufacturer's warranty is still applicable.
My main issue with this model is that it does not play PS2 or PS1 discs from USA, American DVDs, as well as the Audio/video inputs to the TV(HDMI works well)
