PS3 Bluray 2.0 Remote and Samsung TV - Can't scroll Menu

I need help! I was able to sync my PS3 bluray remote to my Samsung TV, but once I try to access the TV Menu to change it to game, I can't cycle through the TV menu options. It keeps changing the channel anytime I hit the up/down buttons on the remote. Really frustrating! ANY help would be appreciated from those with a Samsung TV, as not being able to cycle through the TV menu options forces me to go back to my samsung remote.
