Ps3 Black Screen

by phillykid42 / October 9, 2007 12:56 PM PDT

Everytime i turn on my ps3 the screen is black no matter which video output i hook it up to just black. I tried the "two beep" method by holding down the power button for 5 seconds and waiting for two beeps, still nothing. If i hold down the ps button on the controller i get the controller menu. Anybody have any ideas why this happened and any advice. Thanks

My guess

My guess would be that either your firmware got messed up on a recent update, or you set it to a display resolution your TV set isn't capable of handling. Check the manual and online to see if there's some method to reset the console back to factory defaults. If that doesn't work, make a warranty claim on it.

I think it's more than two beeps, actually...

Hook it up with the packed in av composite cables, than try the hold down the power button for five or so seconds method to reset the visual settings to composite 480i. Sounds to me like you may have set the PS3 to use a resolution it doesn't support, as another poster already mentioned.
