Oh its been fixed a while ago.

Firwmare, whats nice is the Ps3 is easy to DL FW. That, IMO, was the fatal flaw when I bought my player, getting something else. I had to have MA capability, and I did not want to risk it.

Its generally considered the best value. Cuz it does things other players cant. It also is a gaming machine. It also has a powerful processor. It also plays SACD. It has very good SD-DVD playback. Its definitely the fastest to load.

Mini gripes, depending on who you ask, are Blutooth instead of IR, need to buy a remote according to some, have to select audio in menu if you want to only have TV audio vs HT audio, bit loud according to a few (Id prolly be one of em, as I wouldnt mind if even my Panny was a bit quieter)...

of course it cannot bitstream, but this does not matter for 99% of us. Only for the crazy audiophiles who believe that bitstream allows for better jitter mgmt and digital clocking. you cant get the cool logos to pop on receiver, but honestly those logos on mine are pretty small anyways. Silly

hope this helps

get a PS3, unless you are like me and really have no need to game.

so DTS HD has been added?

So you're saying that the PS3 now has the DTS HD codec? Assuming I don't have a need for gaming (like you), what did you get that works for you? Also what is HT audio? Is bitstream a lot better than Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD? Thanks.

oh dear.

I will explain this one time. Because, you should really use the search function, and read for such basic Qs. Its all over the net for you to find out. You can use wikipedia, or go to dolby's or DTS site, or use the search function on a # of sites. If its a little more involved, etc, than I can see asking. But this is very basic.

codecs such as THD, or MA, etc, or even DD 5.1, all start as bitstreams. All of them. Except for "uncompressed PCM".

They all get unzipped, like a file. most people call it decoded, because its easier, but really we should call it unpacked. Like opening a box.

When I said HT, I meant your surround system. sorry

I think PS3 is the WTG for most people. I think you'd probably like it... the one main deterrent for many is that its blutooth. oh there are workarounds, but I just want to program directly into my URC radio freq remote. Well, it doesnt do blutooth, and neither does Harmony, or other remote companies.

its software based, so its more future proofed. if its about spending less, then you can try the numerous sales going on. or even an entry insignia from BB for 230.

or if you like better stuff, and dont mind waiting like others, oppo shouldnt be much toooooo longer to come out with their player. who knows when though,

there ya go, did my best to oblige. if you ask a Q, make sure its something that wiki cant easily explain. thx
