ps/2 Port on mouse not working...

Feb 18, 2004 5:30AM PST

I have to use the serial mouse. The ps/2 is not recognized when I start up, even though I had installed the software/drivers for the mouse, and had the mouse plugged in. I tried another mouse also.

This is a new motherboard, so I'm hoping it is not the ports. But if it is, can I replace the mouse/keyboard port? I have searched on the internet, and there is no 'how to replace' that I can find.

Any help, suggestions is appreciated.

"This is a new motherboard,"

Check your BIOS settings that the PS2 port is enabled. I can't tell you any specific menu to look in since this area has no standards.

Some quick areas to check: 1) verify under the bios the PS/2 port is active, 2) check the PS/2 cables for bent or broken pins. Oh yeah, make sure you're actually in the PS/2 mouse port. Last, verify that if internal harnesses is plugged in correctly(ordinated to pin-1), check your manual. Hope this helps -----Willy
