Hub has a built in firewall.
I can survive without McAfee protecting it - unless you know a way to do it
I would be grateful for any guidance you can offer.
I used to have the McAfee Security Centre suite with PFP8 etc bult in. Last month I changed my broadband to use wireless broadband. I'm in the UK and use BT Total Broadband via a BT home hub.
1) there is only 1 computer as such in use. It is connected via a BT wireless adapter to a BT Home Hub wireless router.
The computer shows up as protected but if you try and protect the BT Home Hub Wireless router it won't do it. Surely McAfee supports the biggest UK company's broadband equipment??
It is of course using a wireless key to communicate with my wireless adapter so I assume that makes a difference. But do I still need to protect it as the wireless router? If so, how do I?
2)In my old suite the firewall log stopped the day I changed to wireless broadband. BUT, it then started again for one day two weeks later before stopping again. I assumed all this was down to going wireless so I installed Total Protection. But still nothing appears in the firewall log. Why not? Isn't it supposed to?
Grateful for any answers you can offer.
