prosumer camcorder

Hi,
I need a bit of advice. I'm looking to buy a prosumer camcorder. Originally I was planning on getting the Canon XH A1S, but Canon just came out with two new cameras that use CMOS as their optical sensors, while the XH A1S uses 3CCD. Is there a big difference between the two?
I've also heard a lot of good things about the Sony HDR AX2000. I'm basically looking to get the biggest bang for my buck, and I don't really want to spend $5000. Any suggestions? Thanks
