progressive scan problems with older tv

Hi I just this new Samsung theater in a box HT-TQ72 and I connectted to my 4yr old sony 32 flat screen a KV-32FS13 . When I connectted the two together using the video component cables I can't see the picture because of all the lines but I can hear the sound . If I use the audio cables then I have a GOOD PICTURE WHAT HAVE I DONE WRONG .THE VIDEO COMPONENT CABLES WORKED FINE BEFORE . (RED, BLUE, GREEN CABLES) Oh ,bye the way I don't have any other adjustment on the TV to change unless someone has something to share . TRHanks .

you need to change the output of your samsung dvd player from rca to component. it doesnt know you're using component unless you physically go into the setup->video settings and adjusting it.

There is no difference between a audio cable and component..

only the color marking is different. Maybe a new component cable is in order if you choose.
