From what I have read on some of the "Pro" websites, it has been suggested that you try both methods to see what performs best because some TVs do a better job and some DVD players do a better job. In other words, find a typical secne on a DVD that would be problematic: Roof shingles shot diagonally, fences or shutters...anything with lots of diagonal lines. Set the TV to normal mode, then play this scene in the DVD player in both methods so you can clearly see the differences. Make a mental note. Then, do the same with the TV changed to Progressive mode and do the same test with the DVD player. If the "progressive" samples are so close you can't see any differences, then flip a coin.
Hi All,
What are the thoughts on either using the Progressive Scan mode on a DVD player or leave it up to the TV? Ideas? Am I missing something? I have a Samsung HL-P5063W DLP with a Sony DVD Player DVP-NS50P/S connected with component cables. Do I need a new DVD player? Different TV? Ideas?
