And I'd like to see what one of these people would do
Jan 4, 2015 2:07AM PST

if they were mugged or had their home broken into. Who would they call for help? Sorry, but all of our officers are either in jail, awaiting trial, or have been reassigned pending grand jury hearings.

we're are going to continue running in circles. Life is what matters. You get to keep yours if you let others keep theirs.

And may be we could make a start in these forums.

I'm not sure I understand what you're saying, Mark
Jan 4, 2015 7:20PM PST

We argue back and forth here in SE and call each other political names (liberal, conservative, Tea Party) and sometimes I've seen those names changed to slurry them (Teabaggers), but I don't recall EVER in all the years I've been here seeing someone call another member a racist or even refer to their race. Most members I've known that go back to the very beginning of my membership in 1996 I've never known their race because it didn't matter....the only way I even had a clue was when Coryphaeus created a website of members' pictures.

Obviously some members have strong opinions about race issues and those are voiced, but nobody personally attacks another here because of their race.....at least I haven't seen that. Yes, we have a few 'bite me' moments back and forth, but I don't believe our members would go that far over the line. Perhaps I'm naive or blind to something I don't WANT to see, but I just don't see it. Things here were at their ugliest during the 'flood' times with the 2000 and 2004 Presidential races and I don't recall anything even close to what I think you are suggesting, Mark.

I think we need the police.
Jan 4, 2015 7:34PM PST

We will always need the police to ensure the powerful don't prey on the weak. But we also need to make sure we hold them accountable for their actions. I think they should only let open minded people with no prejudice become police.

Unfortunately, the far extreme left

cites numbers that completely are in conflict with actual stats regarding 'police brutality' against blacks or anyone else. When they can start preaching about the REAL cause of why blacks kill blacks in massive numbers, they'll finally have credibility. In the meantime, their ******.. is putting the very people who protect them in real jeopardy.

I'm not saying that police brutality is common
Jan 6, 2015 1:42AM PST

I do know that certain areas have a culture of violence when the police interact with the civilians.

Just here the Syracuse police have a history of using excessive force while the DeWitt police are sweethearts.

I don't know if it's because the Syracuse police have to deal with the bad guys. There are a lot murders in Syracuse. It becomes part of the culture even when it isn't required.

My son was at a party and his friend asked him to hold her prescription bottle (she wasn't carrying a purse). The cops came in because of the noise and arrested him and roughed him up even when she said that it was her's. I had to bail him out and it cost me when I wasn't working. The charge was dismissed.

One the other hand, when he was younger, he did break into the house next door (he was my wild child). The police stopped by and asked that I bring him in, which I did. They talked to him and set a court date and he showed up and paid costs and restitution for what he took.

Police, since they can cause so much harm as well as help, need to police their fellow officers to keep everyone else safe.

On another track - what is with all these cops shooting themselves?

Cops eating their guns: stress.

Haven't you been reading the papers? (Rhetorical.)
Your comments are reasonable, but your questions lack insight IMO. You want men to solve the problems they created on their own, with other men as advisers. Jer 10:23.

He'll live they say; suspect at large.
It will spread, I'm afraid. Those who favor "payback for Ferguson" or whatever, and those re-reacting, are headed for anarchy, and they don't want that. No one does when it comes, not even the anarchists.
