Programs won't run, (no error message)

by dave mech / September 20, 2004 8:25 PM PDT

Aome days ago I had the spyware wwcoolsearch. Caused by a globalstartup file winlogin.exe (not winlogon.exe). I got rid of it tnx to HijackThis!
But I still have a problem I jused to blame that winlogin.exe for.
Azureus won't run (no error message), ad-aware install won't run (also no error), kazaa won't run (no error, and now even de .exe is gone). Spywareblaster won't run (no error) and www.bitdefender gives an error when I try to scan.
Also When I startup, active shield from Mcafee gives an error that is not ionstalled correctly. I tried to reinstall but it didnt help.
Also no virus is found and no spyware at all. What is this and how the %^#!&* do I get rid of it, becouse I'm kinda pissed off Happy

Can someone help me please?

''Kazaa file-sharing network user''
by Cursorcowboy / September 20, 2004 10:12 PM PDT

In a nut shell, healthy computers owners are being betrayed simply because a Kazaa file-sharing network user can unknowingly spread infections wherever s/he goes.

1. ZDNet's article "Downloads are forever."

2. A Microsoft overview of "P2P" - Peer-to-Peer Networking Component program(s) and the "Support WebCast: Microsoft Windows Peer-to-Peer Platform."

3. A wormy story from "Symantec."

4. Further pleasurable reading, (search for Kazaa on) at the "Adware, Spyware and other unwanted "malware" - and how to remove them" forum.
