Programs won't run... HELP!

I think that I have a virus. I can't get my programs to run. I haven't lost any files fortunately, but whenever I try to open a program the hourglass goes for a minute and then nothing happens. I can't run antivirus programs either. The only thing that works is internet explorer. I don't know what to do... Any ideas???

Still no luck in safe mode

I still can't get any programs to run in safe mode, even the antivirus. There are also links in explorer that will not run as well, such as the system link within the control panel. I couldn't get ad-aware to run either.

Payness, Since Internet Explorer Works...

...please click on either or both of the free online scans below and run them, if you can. Delete all infected files that you find:

Housecall Online Scanner

Panda Online Scanner

If you can't run either of the scanners above, then download the McAfee Stinger stand-alone removal tool from the link below. Restart the computer into "Safe Mode" again, then double click on the file and see if it will run:

McAfee Stinger

It would also be a good idea to download and run the free standalone spyware removal tool below. It doesn't get every type of spyware but it does remove some types that block program access. As before, after downloading the file to your computer, restart into "Safe Mode" and run the program.:

CWShredder 2.1 Hijack Removal Tool

Hope this helps and let us know how it goes.
