Programs freeze

Hello
I am running windows ME.
For some reason no matter what program I click on not all the time most most of the time my computer will freeze up. I checked to see if anything is running in the background that might freeze it up, and nothing is.
Sometimes the program will come up, but i cannot click on anything because it frozen

thanks for the reply.
i do all ready have spybot and only comes up with the one error metioned in that article, but the article says don't worry about it.
I also have run Housecall and it says my system is clean.
do you have any other suggestions?

No pests....

Open case and check for dust bunnies.
Heat will sometimes cause a system to freeze or shut down.

Did you add new hardware or drivers? Software?

Hard drive may be failing.

Check system resources under "Performance" in "System Properties".

Check Memory usage in "DirectX Diagnosis" under
Tools/System Information.

Power Supply could be failing.

Failing CD device.

Failing M/B.

Anyone... What did I miss?
