And that answer is no, there are no safe software utilities for the registry.
The regulars in these forums always say that using registry cleaners, registry optimizers, registry defraggers, and "System Optimizers" is not needed and can be very dangerous.
The registry doesn't need any of those things and claims to the contrary are never considered.
Performance problems can often be solved step by step, but clues would be needed so any diagnosing can begin.
I don't think this Webware forum is the place to do that.

I briefly surfed and found a discussion on System Mechanic, which did answer one of my questions. NOT a good program to get. Nex question: Is there such a thing as a GOOD program that will do a type of maintenance "clean up" of the registry and computer. The end result is to get rid of a "slug" for a computer, in the way it operates. I know over time we clog up the works with added programs, files, etc. We have 2 computers in the house VISTA and mine is WIN 7 laptop. but I have no complaints on mine. Haven't had it only a little past a year. Thanks in advance. imgrateful_1 always.
