Take your pick of when article but it's a common workaround.

Hey guys. So I've been having issues with slowness for a little while now and it's really getting on my last nerve.
Flash ALWAYS crashes at least twice within an hour regardless of what
browser I am on. I have disabled the OS copy of it in Chrome. The issue
is really bad with Grooveshark, not so much with Youtube. My windows
randomly become nonresponsive, usually if I open them too quickly, and I
just have to wait for a few seconds before they decide to snap out of
it. This is the worst with firefox and chrome.
An additional peculiarity is that I often have 99% disc usage even when only one or two programs are running.
My laptop is about 1 1/2 years and is running Win 8.1 64bit with an Intel Core i3 processor and Intel HD Graphics 4000. I have 4 GB ram and routinely sweep temporary files. I am sure to keep it from overheating and my system is protected by Norton 360 and I occasionally run scans with Malwarebytes. I don't really download much of anything and I have plenty of free space on my hard drive.
Help, please?
Thank you!!
