Programming the remote

Feb 26, 2009 5:27PM PST

I have a Samsung 40" LCD Full High Definition TV (LA40A550P1FXXY) which I bought last July. At the time I managed (with help from the store where I bought it) to program the remote control, however for some reason the remote has become mis-programmed. I have read and re-read the user manual but I cannot work out how to allocate channels to the remote. Below, as a guide, is how I want the numbers on the remote to bring up particular channels:

1 ABC HD
2 Channel 7 HD
3 Channel 9 HD
4 Channel 10 HD
5 SBS HD
6 ABC 2
7 Channel 7
8 Channel 9
9 Channel 10
0 SBS

Can anyone tell me, in simple steps, how to do this?

Are you programming these channels as favorites?

No,I selected my favourites after I bought the TV last July. I want to be able to press number button 1 on the remote and get ABC HD, number 2 and get 7 HD, etc. At the moment the buttons don't do this, they get various channels which I don't want. Some channels are duplicated on several buttons. Basically I want the buttons to select channels as per the list in my first post.

cullism,

I have reviewed, and played around with a number of televisions. I'm not able to find out how to do that on any of them, including the closest model we have to yours. If you're trying to do this with the Samsung remote control that came with the television, I haven't been able to duplicate the setup you described that your retailer's associate was able to do.

That said, it could be a regional feature. You might try calling the customer service center in your area to see if they have any additional inslight. Sorry I couldn't help.

HDTech,

After a great deal of trial and error I managed to program the remote so that all the digital (HD) channels are assigned to the number buttons on the remote as listed in my earlier post. I haven't been as successful with the conventional channels, however. Thanks for your efforts.
