Programming a Supplicant,HELP!

Hi,
I am doing a college project on creating a supplicant which implements the IEEE 802.1x protocols. I believe creating a program which interprets/sends/receives an eap packet is a project itself. So where can I find the api?s regarding the eap authentication? What are the steps that should be taken so that the association(Listening for the Access point/SSID) and authentication can be carried out? Should this be done in VC++? Please help!

Doesn't Linux source code have this all done?

It sounds like you may be duplicating prior work, but do look at the Linux source code since that's what I would do.
