program too big to fit in memory

Jul 24, 2004 3:22AM PDT

I have a program file which is 700 MB. When I try to run it, it gives me an error that says that 'The program is too big to fit in memory'. My HD's memory is more than ample for this size of file.

Is there a way to fix this?

Supply names, web site and where I can dowload as well as reading the forum tip and supplying the noted information.

Tip:
If you are asking for help to troubleshoot a computer-related problem, please be sure to include all the necessary information (ie: operating system, model number, hardware, software, etc) that will help others identify your problem for a speedy resolution.

My computer is a Toshiba laptop:

OS: WinXP (Home Ed.)
HD: 27.9 GB; 21.6 GB Used
Processor: Intel Celeron/Pentium 4 Equivalent 1.99 gHz
RAM: 256 MB

The program in question is an archive file of my own personal files which I backed up on my old computer to transfer to this one (so no download).

An archive file is NOT a program. But there could be some un-archiving program which you need to share the name of.

As it stands, not much can be offered.

No, no, I meant a self-extracting EXE...but thanks anyway.

Aha, there is a workaround for that.

Depending on the tool used to create the archive...

We've made a little progress and now all I need to know is what program created the archive. I've used Power Archiver and Winzip to unzip such .EXEs.

It's a WinAce SFX archive EXE. So I can open them, even after they're compiled in the tool I made them in?

Yes. I've use...

WinAce to open the .EXE that it created.

Sorry, but I must ask. Next time, try to give up the clues a little faster.
