Question

Program to password-protect and encrypt external hardrive.

The title says it all. Can you guys please recommend the most reliable program on the market? As mentioned, need to lock it using a password and also encrypt the names of the files, so that they can't be seen by anyone without using a password.

Also, I'll be using this on both a Mac and a PC, so anything that does both would be preferable. I ran a search and came up with TrueCrypt, but apparently that was discontinued way back in 2014.

I would have unencrypted backups at home and online, but when I'm on the road, I need my drives to be locked and encrypted.

So just the CipherShed then? All the others are either Windows-based and there's one for Linux, too.

Have you or anyone compared CipherShed to VeraCrypt?

Thanks. Had already checked that site. There were only three reviews ("pros") for the CS, so I thought that maybe if you (or anyone else) had tried both, that you could've given your own personal testimony as to why you would choose one over the other. But I think I'll just try both myself (seeing as how they're free) and will just take it from there.

Thanks for the recommendation, but I need something much larger than that. Looking for at least a TB.
