Program Sharing Across a LAN

Feb 11, 2004 11:06PM PST

Hi everyone,

I am in need of your expertise yet again.

Can I share programs that are on one comuter with another computer on the network? Or do I have to install the program individually on each computer and then file share?

Thanks!
Gordon

The answer can be yes or no depending on the program. SIMPLE programs or ones designed to run without reference to external DLLs or the REGISTRY run just fine. More complex programs must be installed locally such as "Microsoft Office."

If you use something like VNC or Remote Desktop you can run apps remotely like that, otherwise you need to go to the land of Unix where people have been doing that for almost 25 years.
