My definition has a camcorder with a lens filter diameter of 70mm or wider, a 3CCD or 3CMOS imaging chip array of 1/3 inch or larger, low compression video format capture and XLR audio inputs. Take away the commonly used manual controls (focus, zoom, audio gain control, white balance, etc) on the outside of the camcorder (rather than buried in a menu) and you have a way for your "NIGHT" light to get into the camcorder (wide lens) and what little light there is to be processed by the large imaging chip system where each chip processes a color - rather than a single chip processing all three colors.
