Product Key file location

Aug 20, 2005 4:02AM PDT

I need to reload Office 2003 but I did
not recover the product key before uninstalling.

Office 2003 transferred back to C drive from
external memory backup, but when I click on
Word or Excel to open them, a dialog box appears
telling me that system is not configured for this program.

To reinstall O-2003, I've been looking for "about" in the files, but I cannot find it.

Any ideas where to look in my effort to locate the Product Key or how I can configure system for program?

Thanks
Dale

If you registered the product with Microsoft, you can get a new one for a reduced price, if you lost it.

Frank,

I wonder if Belarc still is able to retrieve the license key after an uninstall of Office, as the poster said he did. After all, this is where I found the value reported by Belarc for Office 2000 in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall\{00010413-78E1-11D2-B60F-006097C998E7}
and I suppose that's removed when you uninstall the program (didn't try it Happy).

The only way to recover it might be a System Restore back to a point before doing this thoughless uninstall.

Regards,

Kees
