Processor Question

Are the Pentium 4 processors becoming prehistoric compared to the Pentium M and other Processors whats the best thing out there?

Opinion. The P4 was not a notebook CPU.

It never was. That was the desktop replacement variety and even then could be less than 100% stable for gamers. But gamers shouldn't be on laptops IMO.

The best thing depends on your intended usage and if you need to survive the impending 64-bit tsunami. You should already be feeling the effects with XP-64 in production now, Intel implementing EM64T into almost all its CPUs and then you ask... What about laptops? The answer is simple. Laptops take more time to design and engineer. I expect to see an influx of 64-bit laptops over the next 6 months since it won't take long for consumers to latch onto this and shun the 32-bit only offerings.

Naysayers who didn't experience the last shifts from 8 to 16 to 32-bit or missed out the 32 to 64 bit SUN computing shift will write again that what we have now will do fine. Remember they said the same thing with each changeup so listen at your own peril.
