processor question

Jul 20, 2005 5:57PM PDT

i plan on buying the athlonx2 4200 processor...can someone help with a compatible mobo to go wit it..does all the socket 939 mobos can take this processor.also the mobo should hav pcie support for my video card.and it would be good if it comes under 100$

also i heard from many forums that 4200 is overclockable to 2.7 ghz wit normal air cooling..can anypne tell me whether this is possible in a way which does not involve me opening the processor and doin soldering..that is can it be software modded?(atleat upto 2.4 ghz)

i took this processor choice against the athlon 4000+ which is bout a 100$ cheaper..i plan on buildin a system that is high end for atleast 1-2 years..also please tell me whether this is a better choice aginst the 4000+..i mostly do gamin, dvd burnin, audio conversion...

the rest of the config that im plannin to buy includes:

1)xfxgeforce 7800 gtx(overclocked to 490mhz)
2)OCZ Enhanced Latency 1GB (2 x 512MB) 184-Pin DDR SDRAM DDR 400
3)Maxtor DiamondMax 10 6L200M0 200GB 7200 RPM Serial ATA150 Hard Drive - OEM
4)Pioneer Black IDE DVD Burner Model DVR-109 BK - OEM

ODD thing to buy "overclocked to 490mhz"

What many don't understand is there is ZERO assurance that an overclocked product will perform:

a. under load.
b. over time.

This is a sure sign of a product I want nothing to do with. They can keep it.
