I need to replace My AMD processor, fan died and CPU overheated, How do I find out what core it is by the numbers stamped on it? IE palomino, Barton.?

Not the way I approach this.

I look at the motherboard make/model and see what CPUs it supports.

Are you sure just your processor fried. Your motherboard may have gone with it. If it is just your processor check which processors does your motherboard support and you may be able to upgrade from what you had. Check with the manufacture.
