How many clocks does it take to execute an instruction?
On the Atom it may take a few more. So between GHz and how many clock ticks per instruction you have in one paragraph explained why it is faster or slower.
I have a core 2 solo 1.4 ghz on my laptop, and i've read many reviews that say it is about 3 times faster than a 1.6 ghz atom. Why is there such a difference in performance? Is it to do with the processor architecture and how they are made? Feel free to use nerdy/complex answers! Thanks!
