Procedure to install a Network PCI card

Jul 19, 2007 12:14PM PDT

Please furnish a procedure to install a Network PCI card in my Desktop computer for a Net gear wireless router. The desktop is a Dell Dimension 4100 with OS ME. Dell says that I have the PCI slots, but I do not know where to physically install the PCI card inside the CPU. Please help. Thank you.

Review your Dell manual or if none, then find online at the Dell support website for your model#. Download the manual and review. The pci slots will be shown, thus there you plug-in your pci card. Remember, to open case and find pci slots, of course be sure no power when opening case and installing card. All this will be straight-foward and be obivous once case is open and after reviewing the manual.

Basically, you open the system up, and look for some white colored slots. There will probably be about 3 of them right next to one another. Pick one, and put the card in there. It'll really only go in one way, so just don't try and jam it in. Then close everything up, boot it up, install drivers if necessary, and configure it for use with what you want to do.
