Probs accessing and downloading onto Sony NWE507 1Gb walkman

Jul 11, 2009 9:51PM PDT

Hello, I purchased this about 3 years ago. I have lots of music on but can't edit it/delete/add anything through sonic stage since changing pc's some time ago. It was originally a programme on Windows XP but then I reformatted laptop and can't do a thing with it. Also can't do anythign on Vista despite installing upgraded software. It won't recognise ATRAC files (the software, I mean)
Thanks for reading.

http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=sonicstage+alternative&aq=f&oq=&aqi=g8 points out there are alternatives but you see people note that only 2 out of 3 PCs tend to work. So take a chance and I'll add I have found many that think this stuff should just work. Sadly it takes a bus load of people to fix this sometimes. Worse are those suitcases of green at times. I think a new player every few years is the answer.

Bob,
Thank you. Not had the chance to fiddle yet but will let you know if successful or not. (found I wasted far too much time in front of PC with this already!).

Hiya, tried the suggested link and programme. Works a treat. How do I transfer music files from the audio player back to the PC, please?

As you're probably not in the market for a new Sony player. The newer models, from late 2007(?) going forward no longer require SonicStage and don't reguire additional software, if you are so inclined. They're drag and drop, so you should be able to transfer files back to pc by drag and drop as well. And these new models don't even support ATRAC. Sony finally got on board with mp3s. Actually supports unprotected AAC tracks (iTunes Plus) and wma.
