Problems with Windows Data Execution Protection at startup

by dia1943 / March 20, 2009 7:47 PM PDT

I have a laptop and desktop computer, each with the same antivirus program and settings. Suddenly, at startup, my laptop flashes a message from Windows stating that DEP has prevented a program from manipulating information in memory and has shut down that program but it does not tell me which program is affected, what the consequences might be or how to resolve the problem. I also notice a cross on the Taskbar network icon suggests my connection to the internet is terminated but I remain connected.

Can anybody explain my problem and help me to resolve the issues more effectively than Windows?
