Leave the monitor as GENERIC....that's OK. Dell may not yet have drivers for your video card for VISTA....they will be different. I use NVIDIA video and they have a specific driver for VISTA X86 and X64. Like HP and printer drivers Dell is playing catch up with VISTA...keep in contact with Dell for the updated drivers for vista.

Did you keep the box?

If the box and receipt can be found you can pester the seller for a refund. There's a small army of people that have trudged back to the stores to set things right.

XP drivers
Feb 12, 2007 1:32AM PST

You can try to install the XP drivers into VISTA. Download the updated XP drivers. Create a folder for it. Open all files into the folder. Locate the "Setup or Install or EXE.file" Right click the file. Under the Compatibilty TAB check the box for XP. Also on the bottom of the same box is a SELECTION to "RUN as ADMINISTRATOR". Click ok and close the box. The DOUBLE click the file that you set as XP compatibile. Hope that will help. Sometimes you will need to install the XP drivers this way in VISTA.
