PROBLEMS WITH THE SONY CLIE PEG-T615C

I would appriciate someone's help - i'm completly out of ideas...


I'm trying to get my Clie to work on my windows XP home machine. I install the desktop software (with the cradle unplugged from the USB), plug in the cradle to my USB, hit the hotsync button and the only thing that happens is that the "device not recognized" dialog box pops up. I do this repeated times with diff. USB ports, and even with different computers. I also downloaded a patch from Clie's site which was supposed to address the issue of Clie's not being recognized by Windows. I've also gone into the add/remove hardware and tried to add it that way. No dice. If someone has ANY suggestions AT ALL please let me know...I'm about to throw it out the window. Thanks

Sounds dead to me.

The only other time I see this is when the unit was plugged in before the drivers and I have to boot safe mode and remove the unknown items. http://www.usbman.com notes how so I won't duplicate it here.

But it does sound dead or the cable failed.

I'm unsure of what. But all capital letter monolith paragraph posts are a sign.

While it would be nice to find a good repair service to note, if they don't use both upper and lower case letters, then what else will be amiss?

Similar problem with Clie PEG TJ35

I've got the same problem with my Sony Clie PEG TJ35; it used to hotsync fine on two different computers and for some months now has only elicited the USB Device Not Recongized error message. I've been online with Clie tech support 3 times for it; once after suggesting i unplug all other USB devices, it did hotsync once but then never again. Lately even that doesn't work. I've soft-hard reset, reinstalled PC Palm Desktop for Clie, all to no avail. This "We can fix anything" does look a bit suspicious! Clie works fine otherwise, just can't hotsync
