Problems with opening email attachments

Feb 27, 2004 8:43AM PST

Ok, guys and gals, I gotta a problem here that the folks at MSN can't seem to help me figure out. Usually when you open email attachments with MSN, it uses the MSN email program to open it. Well, my problem is that my MSN9 isn't doing that. I have Windows XP Home operating system and I use MSN9 as my ISP. It wants me to choose from a list of programs such as Word, Notepad, ect. to open the attachment with, and when I use one of these programs the attachments obviously don't display correctly, especially images. Any idea on how I can get it to start using the MSN9 email program to open them? Help!!!

Thanks,
Drew

MSN Explorer version 9 ? The e-mail program for MSN Explorer is MSN's Hotmail. If you are unable to open an attachement, one reason is that you do not have the application for it installed. That may also be the reason why you have that list asking you which program to use.

Well, how do I install the application for this? I've tried removing MSN9 and then installing it again, but this hasn't worked. Any suggestions?

To make progress, tell about the attachment. For example, NO EMAIL PROGRAM KNOWN will open a Word document.

You'll need Word or my favorite, Open Office from http://www.openoffice.org (It's what I use.)
