Problems with new Internet Explorer 8.0

Mar 28, 2009 4:16AM PDT

I just downloaded IE8, and many of the links no longer work. For example, here is the error for verizon.com - res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm#verizon.com,http://www22.verizon.com/

IE8 tried restore the website, and failed. This is happening with many websites including many of my favorites. Fortunately, I have google chrome that is much easier and faster, but there are things that IE did better until this new version stopped working.

fix res://ieframe.dll/acr_error.htm# errors

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{06EEE834-461C-42c2-8DCF-1502B527B1F9} is where i found the 2 instances of the same problem you are having, it was a big problem for me. Delete the two instances and then manually retype the address in IE and the page will come up. I have searched all over the internet for a cure and had to search the registry 30 times until i decided on the above action. I had three pages that I couldnt access. The only way to prevent this from happening again is not to have IE recoup pages after a shutdown. I hope this helps you.

clarification for res://ieframe.dll/... fix

You reference the registry entry, HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{06EEE834-461C-42c2-8DCF-1502B527B1F9} - am assuming you did not remove that entry - or were there two instances of that entry? Could be the answer for me - thanks much...
