Problems with my screen

by jmshumate / October 16, 2004 12:41 PM PDT

I upgraded to xp about 5 months ago, everything was fine until a couple of days ago. Now my display doesn't fit my screen there is about a 1/2 inch on both sides. I contacted microsoft and hewlett packard and both said sorry we can't help you we don't know why... another person told me to check the driver and update it, well there is no updating the driver unless someone knows something that will help me. It is a ATI technologies display adapter. Any help would be great......

Try System Restore to roll back to when things worked, e.g. two to three days ago ?

You did not state which ATI RADEON card and drivers you have. If it is recent, it will have the Catalyst Control Centre, wherein you can play around with screen settings to alter the desktop resolution. At times it will be necessary to reset the display appearance with the physical monitor controls themselves, on whatever device you have, be it CRT or LCD. At other times, certain games will throw the display out of whack, requiring you to restore it.

Try adjusting the refresh rate on your monitor. Any upgrade to the ATI Catalyst driver throws it back to a default of 65 Hertz.

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
