Problems with my Samsung LCD.

Jan 18, 2011 12:15AM PST

I have a Samsung LCD, Model: LE32B651T3W, with a usb port and i watch movies via usb. The videos are .avi format and .avi is suported on the TV. Till now i did not have any problems with the format, but now i have some problems even with .avi videos that i have already watched on my TV. I was watching a BBC documentary in six parts and they are all .avi but i have watched only the first three episodes and after a while i decided to watch the 4th, but when i plug in the usb and start the video it says 'Not supported file format'. Well, i then tried the first three that i had already watched on the TV and and it doesn't play them neither, except the third. Then i tried the 5th and the 6th and the fifth is not supported, but the sixth is ok. And i have another problem with the subtitles but it is from a while ago and it happens only with older films (the most recent one is from 2001). When i play the movies on computer and attach the subtitle it goes well but when i play it on the TV it's like the first minute is ok then the second it is late only a little, then the third more and so it keeps being late more and more (the subtitle). I know that i can adjust if it doesn't match the sound but i have to do it every minute. Please help.

Only some bitrates and such are supported.

It's like asking if AVI or MKV is supported. It is, but not all encodings you can put in those containers are supported. Again, the container is supported. Not all the content encoding is.

It's a mess that your average person might get upset with.

-> Do you think it's time to reduce this to only items you can get from a store like iTunes?

That way it could all be tested out ahead of time for a better user experience.
