Problems with my hp pavilion dv2000t laptop

by Diirewolf / August 21, 2006 10:00 PM PDT

I recently purchased the dv2000t laptop with the following specs:
-2.0ghz core duo
-2gb ram
-120 hdd
-geforce go 7200
Ive been having a few problems:
1-The battery life indicator on the bottom left of the screen does not show time remaining, in my old pavilion laptop, it did. any way to fix this?
2-Sometimes when i plug in headphones, the sound still plays on the speaker and the sound in the headphones is fuzzy.
3-Sometimes the cd/dvd drive doesnt respond at all. I have to push it inwards and the light starts flashing, then it works.
Any suggestions on any of these problems, please let me know.

poor workmanship.

Sounds like this is an example of poor quality workmanship. I say this because it sounds like your line-in is crappy, and the Optical drive sticks and the battery indicator isn't working properly.

Taking it apart (not you (unless you don't care about warranty/are technically super-savvy) - a HP authorized tech) and pushing and wiggling contacts is really what needs to be done.

I miss that time remaining. But I see why it's gone.

Today's owners would complain that it was inaccurate or wrong so I agree it had to go in today's environment. I think you have a warranty issue with the headphone jack if a new headphone does the same thing. The CD drive should also be looked at.

The cd/dvd drive also randomly autoplays the disc in the drive without me doing anything. im guessing that its loose and hasn't been installed properly.

Hi, I just picked up a dv2000t with a lower harddrive size and less Ram and it works flawless. I would guess that it's a random accident in its build. It happens. I also have a dv5000 (2.2 GHZ Turion, 1GB RAM, 80 GB HD) that I use like a work horse every day, no problems there. Call Tech Support. So far if I've needed a part replaced they overnight it to me.

display of time remaining?

i bought a dv6000 in august - 2GB RAM, 120 GB HDD, AMD Turion TL-50.
It only shows the % of charge remaining but not the time in hours/minutes. I checked with the support, one of them said that it is possible while the other said it isn't, for this model.

for me the battery (6 cell li-ion standard)lasts just about 1 hour, with only word and pdf docs open, with no music or video on.

does anybody have this low battery issue?

Help, my PC with Windows 10 won't shut down properly

Since upgrading to Windows 10 my computer won't shut down properly. I use the menu button shutdown and the screen goes blank, but the system does not fully shut down. The only way to get it to shut down is to hold the physical power button down till it shuts down. Any suggestions?
