try this
Jul 8, 2007 2:52AM PDT

run the following:

SFC /scannow

from start>run...and have your XP disc ready...
you might be missing some system files
You might have some spyware or a virus, so do some scans.

hope this helps

Trojans means "unknown damage."
Jul 8, 2007 3:13AM PDT

It's too bad that was not in your first post. I thought about such but the trojans do untold damage. Let me write it another way. The trojans can be removed but that does not repair the damage.

The SFC /SCANNOW is a great idea but there can be registry damage which I've yet to find any one tool to help in all cases.

Your FULL VIRUS SCAN is not enough. Let's do an online spyware scan now and later a rootkit scan.

Start with -> http://www.ewido.net/en/onlinescan/

Also, please share what protection failed here. Everyone wants to know which AV or other such allowed the trojan in as well as the trojan's name.

-> Ahh, the name of the trojan could be key to a fix short of a complete reinstall.

well.....

did you try the SFC /scannow anyway. sometimes you might not need the CD. but if it prompts you for it, you may need to borrow one from a friend. other than that, i know of no workaround. maybe some other ppls on these forums knows more about this issue

AV is kaspersky antivirus and the trojans are:

So WinFixer and other pests still there?

Some of the antivirus programs don't consider these a virus and don't remove them.

Three workarounds:
Jul 8, 2007 3:58AM PDT

1. Drag and drop in stead op copy/cut and paste.
2. Use the move or copy icons that you can put in the toolbar.
3. Use an alternative for Windows Explorer, like the free version of Powerdesk. It uses the same underlying routines Explorer uses, so it might fail the same way, but you don't know until you tried.
