problems with hp psc 1310

my hp three in one printer is is not open the image zone window.
when i first got it everything worked very fine but now whenever i click on the
hp image zone icon on my desktop it says, 'Parameter cannot be null.
Parameter name: serializationStream' i really do not know what that means. i
thinking of returing it and may be get another brand.
