Type DV9000 RECALL and see if you are lucky.
To get your files out we have the Cnet Storage forum sticky at http://forums.cnet.com/5208-7588_102-0.html?threadID=354911&tag=forums06;forum-threads
The easy thing to do is to get some USB cable like you see at http://www.geeks.com/details.asp?invtid=2020 to access your drive externally.

Hey,
I have an HP Pavillion Dv9770, recently the display started to mess up, it would crash then when I restarted, the screen would be split in 2 but it still worked. Now when I boot it up, it's still split screen but all I get is random colors so I can't even use it.

I bought a new laptop, HP HDX 16 and I'm trying to recover my old files from the old hard drive. The hard drive is Hitachi 5K250, when I put it in my new laptop, it doesn't work. I bought a USB to SAVA/IDE Cable Converter and when I plug it in to my new laptop, it recgonizes it but it doesn't appear in my computer. If I go to Disk Management, it says the drive is not initialized and when I try to initialize it, I get the error 'the device is not ready'
I need a way to recover my old files either using my old laptop or new one, any help is appriciated. Thanks
