Problems with HP Pavillion

Nov 21, 2009 6:06AM PST

Hey,
I have an HP Pavillion Dv9770, recently the display started to mess up, it would crash then when I restarted, the screen would be split in 2 but it still worked. Now when I boot it up, it's still split screen but all I get is random colors so I can't even use it.

I bought a new laptop, HP HDX 16 and I'm trying to recover my old files from the old hard drive. The hard drive is Hitachi 5K250, when I put it in my new laptop, it doesn't work. I bought a USB to SAVA/IDE Cable Converter and when I plug it in to my new laptop, it recgonizes it but it doesn't appear in my computer. If I go to Disk Management, it says the drive is not initialized and when I try to initialize it, I get the error 'the device is not ready'

I need a way to recover my old files either using my old laptop or new one, any help is appriciated. Thanks

Nov 22, 2009 2:04AM PST

Hey,
thanks for the reply. I've tried a usb to ide cable to get to my files but it says the drive is 'uninitialized' and when I try to initialize it, it says 'the device is not ready. I tried Ubuntu too and it didn't find it, do you know any way to get my files off the uninitialized drive??

Progresses from free to trialware to where we send it off to http://www.drivesavers.com

If the usual does not work out then it's off to data recovery companies.
