Problems with firewalls

by shaner7575 / February 28, 2009 7:19 AM PST

I have vista home premium and usually ran zone alarm free for my firewall, but with the newer update I've had to uninstall it. I've tried Comodo but my lexmark x2500 printer stalls during scanning and printing. After researching, I found various posts that the firewall and lexmark do not work well together. So I tried Online Armour and kept getting BSOD, so now I'm just using the vista firewall. Any suggestions on which free firewall others are using? I use Avast Antivirus, Firefox 3.0.6 is my default browser, and I have various free anti-spyware programs. Just wondering if anyone had any suggestions. Zone alarm 7.1.254 worked flawlessly on mine, but now is only offered as a "trial" download.
Any help and suggestions are appreciated.

Thanks in advance

One other option...

ZoneAlarm Free Firewall is still a free product, but the other free firewall product available is PCTools Firewall Plus. It is not quite as advanced as Comodo, but still more customizable than ZoneAlarm and easier to use as well.

P.S. PCTools was bought out by Symantec, makers of Norton-branded products, but their software is still developed separately.

I guess I will try that product and see how it acts with my Vista.
Thanks again for your help.
