Your post is a little confusing but since it's not working on the laptops and you said: "I tried the monitor on another computer but no dice, it didnt work.", then aren't you saying the monitor simply doesn't work? If that's the case, try a KNOWN GOOD monitor. Our Acer monitors seem to die fairly regularly..
If you've got a known good monitor, then access the graphics card display options in the Control Panel.
Hope this helps.
My acer aspire 5735z is connected to an acer al2216w monitor and there is no display. The computer recoginizes a connection because I can scroll my mouse over to the other monitor and the display settings show an extra monitor but the monitor has no display. The computer is sending but the monitor is not receiving. I tried the monitor on another computer but no dice, it didnt work. the same things is happining to another monitor and the sam computer. the fn-f5 launch manager key combination does not work either. I have read that if i use the fn-f5 key then the display should work but neither key combination doesnt work nor does the menu that pops up when i press ctrl+alt+f12. Please help
