is often a sign of a old software. Look for the latest firmware for the router.
Hello,
I've been having some issues with my connection lately. I have a Windows PC and a G4. The other day I connected them both online using a Netgear router. The setup was very easy and I got online in a minute. However, after a few hours I lost connection. Then I connected my PC directly to my modem and got back online. I did the same with the G4. In order to have them both reconnected I have to reset my modem and/or router and/or reboot both computers. Sometimes reseting modem and router will help, sometimes it won't. So I have been playing with these two, trying to figure out if one of computers is failing. I have concluded that regardless of what computer is connected (they can be connected both at the same time or just one of them), as long as they are connected via router, connection disappears after a while. "After a while" translates into one hour or five hours. If any of them is connected directly to the modem, connection never disappears. Someone told me this could have something to do with my dynamic IP, and that I should probably change it to static IP. As I understand it, dynamic IP, by default, expires after some time, but should also by default renew itself. If that's the case then my dynamic IP won't do it, or can't do it. So then I changed it to Static IP, hoping his would solve it. Well, it hasn't. I'm still experiencing the same problem.
Do you know what might be the problem and what I need to do to have this fixed?
Thanks a lot!
Cheers,
Exp.
