Problems with colors when playing video files: LG 1982U

I just bought two 19" LG 1982U LCD monitors to set them up as dual monitors. It works fine with images and text but when I put a movie on, the colors get really dark and all messed up. I tried to change and calibrate using software and the monitor's built in menu but with no luck. Has anyone experienced this problem and know how to overcome it?
Moreover, I have a little trouble getting the RGB values just right, is there a link where I can find good starting values for that particular monitor?
My GPU is a GeForce 7950 GT and is connected to the monitors with a DVI cable.
