Problems w/History Files W'98SE

by MyCodieOdie / August 8, 2005 5:50 AM PDT

When I first started using this system I had my history files set up to keep track of the sites visited for the last 6 weeks - I have not changed the setting but it does not allow me to review the last 6 weeks anymore. It appears that it only allows me to review today and yesterday. What has happened? Also, when I visit sites within a search the listing changes the color of the type so I know where I have been - it seams that this information used to be retained so that when I browsed through the search items at a later date I wouldn't visit places where I have previously been. This system does not retain this information anymore either. Can anyone tell me how to fix this frustrating problem? Thank you very much!

Internet Options/History

Check to see if some windows update defaulted this setting back to 20 days.....and if so, just bump it back up to however long you need it to keep instead.

Not sure about the color coding issue though.....I never keep my history longer than one day personally.

Color issue ...

is directly related to history. Visited link only gets another color if can be found in Internet. So it's one and the same problem. The setting Toni mentions is the one to use to set the time to keep them as long as you want. It should be strange if it doesn't work.

I don't have any stick time

with this history stuff since I keep mine set to a value of zero. (one seems to produce the same results)

If the "days to keep pages in history" looks correct and it does not function I would wonder if you have some sort of cleaner running at startup.
