What is the router model number?
11Mbps sounds like wireless-b broadcast mode. What is the broadcast mode of the router? Of the wireless network adapter? (HINT: You want wireless-g.)
Are you using the latest firmware for the router?
Are you using the latest network adapter drivers?
Have you scanned for viruses AND spyware on all computers?
i have a realtek RTL8139/819x family fast ethernet NIC also an
and a wireless card: http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=136479
the router is a dlink
i can connect to the access point on the laptop at 11mbps (which is as high as it ever connects at)
i can get the desktop to connect to the same connection but only after about 15 minutes of trying, and then only at 1 mbps and only for a couple of minutes before it just stops working (pages not loading, virus updates saying i'm not connected but the wireless manager says i still am at 1 mbps)
should i tweak any settings in device manager>network adaptoers>belkin wireless OR realtek NIC > properties > advanced?
