problems re-installing my hp printer with windows 7

May 21, 2010 11:33AM PDT

i have recently gotten windows 7 and when i try to re-install my hp printer again it goes halfway through installation when it pops up that it cannot continue due to registry keys missing, but i do not know how to fix it nor where to begin. i've looked it up online and it tells me to download this or that and that doesn't work either. i don't know what else to do

What HP?

You told so little and just that one thing could have avoided the first question back to you. Think over your posts and try to supply the basics.

Ok, this is a PSD 1410.

Since we are not discussing PC problems such as the usual forgotten motherboard driver package, let's dive into the PSC 1410 "usual."

1. Uninstall it all.
a. Unplug the USB cable to the PSC 1410.
b. Follow the uninstall procedure at http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?tmp_rule=23407&tmp_task=setupCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1103491

2. The CD that came with the PSC 1410 is unlikely to have the Windows 7 drivers. AND since this post does not reveal 32 or 64 bit windows I will not give any exact link to the correct drivers. This is why members must give all the details to save 5 posts to get to where we can discuss this.

a. Get the Windows 7 drivers from http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/documentSubCategory?tmp_rule=23814&tmp_task=setupCategory&lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&product=1103491 and do not plug in the USB cable till instructed.

Sorry that I can't be more specific but the details are not where I could find them.

I hear you.

I know some are upset for the need for what seems to be a never ending request for details. The printer, the OS version and later I bet we'll have to cover the motherboard chipset driver package you used (or didn't) when the printer still is not detected.

Be sure to follow the HP admonishment about letting all access to the internet and such.
