problems nvidia fx 5200 and thief 2

keeps coming up with an error msg when stating a new game: ERROR: DIRECT 3D DEVICE DRIVERDOES NOT ACCURATELY REPORT TEXTURE MEMORY USAGE. CONTACT YOU 3D ACCELERATOR VENDOR FOR UPDATED DRIVERS.

I AM THINKING IT IS A NEWER 3D CARD THAN THE GAME ITSELF (2000) SO DRIVERS SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM?? WHAT SHOULD I DO??

PS: I AM NEWBIE....

Why not check it???

Make sure you have the latest DirectX from MS update service. Then goto the vendors video website and get the latest drivers there. You can also goto the Nvidea driver support website, but try the vendors first. You can also run the test pgm. "DXDIAG" w/o "" from the run button and see what the results are as well.

check their site to see if it's a bug

In reply to: problems nvidia fx 5200 and thief 2

it's possible that it's a bug with the game (happens, HL2 will sometimes get weird .cab errors, not an actual problem (HL2 says it is though) it's just the disc needs cleaning (while HL2 says its a corrupted file, dead HDD and bad RAM...))

check the site for that

another thing, really old games sometimes don't work on newer machines
that classifies as really old (5 years is quite a bit for a computer) i'd say if it's not working, see if you have an old machine laying around from 1998-2001 and see if it'll run on that
